AB Ventures is the most utopian pool of diversity and Phuntsho Dorji’s story will tell you why. Phuntsho loved football and was also part of the Bhutan National Football team (under 16). Being part of the national team at such a young age, he was able to develop communications and teambuilding skills instantly.
“As players of the national team, we had to do intense training every time and what made it more challenging, was the language barrier between us and our coach. Our coach was Japanese and we barely knew any words of it. So, it is through this opportunity that I taught myself how to adapt, understand and communicate with people from different cultures speaking different languages.”
Phuntsho then graduated with flying colours from one of the most prestigious high schools in Bhutan and immediately got a full Indian government scholarship. He pursued his degree in Computer Science and Engineering. Right after his degree, he landed an amazing job as an IT officer in the Druk Punjab National Bank and, then went another direction.
“I worked in PNB for four years and was thoroughly enjoying it. However, I then decided to leave my job and start my own business as I had married and had my first daughter. I wanted to be able to help raise our daughter by being present.”
After some years, Phuntsho got another job opportunity at SouthTech Bhutan Private Limited, an FDI company from Bangladesh.
“I did intense training in JAVA for six months and was working as the ICT Business Analyst for the next five years. In November of 2020, I was laid off as the pandemic had terribly affected the company. Likewise, my restaurant business was also suffering due to the pandemic.”
And that is how Phuntsho Dorji found his way to us.
“I saw the vacancy on Facebook for AB Ventures and, I knew I had to try.”
Phuntsho at the moment has the longest working experience and expertise. However, Phuntsho understands the importance of learning and teamwork.
“When we started the training in excel and word, I was familiar with it, but when it came to blogs and content writing, that was new for me and I enjoyed it as I was getting new knowledge. I also love helping my younger colleagues because I know how helping others result in better team coordination and successful growth of the whole company.” With the progressive growth and expansion of AB Ventures, Phuntsho sees himself slowly shifting to a more advanced work service of website designing and coding for that is where his primary passion lies.
